This is an app that just speech selected text, similar to the one on the iMac.

If you can select text, such as a Web browser or text editor, you can read it out loud. It is useful for listening to annoying long sentences by voice or for proofreading the text you have created.

Reading selected text out loud can be done with the standard Windows magnifier, but in many cases it is inconvenient because it cannot read out loud and cannot be used in conjunction with the magnification function. This software solves that problem.

How to use

When you launch the application, it starts in the background.

Press the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl" + "F1" to read out the text. Pressing "Ctrl" + "F1" while the voice is playing will stop the voice.

Click the icon in the notification area to open the settings window.

Setting items

Voice

You can select a voice to be read out. The list shows voices that have been downloaded to your PC; only Microsoft-signed voices installed to your Windows can be used.

Speed

Change the speed of the voice.

Volume

Change the volume of the voice.

How to add speech voices

To add a reading voice, you need to install a language pack for Windows.

If some voices are not listed, please go to "Windows Start Menu" > "Settings" > "Time and Language" > "Language and Region" > "Options" and download speech synthesis.

How to start the app at Windows startup

To start this app at Windows startup, you need to create a shortcut to the app in the startup folder.
First, type "shell:appsfolder" in the File Explorer address bar and press Enter.

Right click on the "Selected Text To Voice" file in the Applications folder that opens and drag and drop it to the desktop to "Create shortcuts here".
Now move the shortcut file created on the desktop to the following folder.
C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
